Bread, Try Number 2

Last week’s bread-making episode was so successful that I decided to try a pullman loaf. The results were not so good this time.

I used the pullman loaf recipe from Charles Van Over’s book, The Best Bread Ever, the same book that guided me through the baguettes. While the result looks pretty enough, the crust was WAY too thick and tough. The bread was far too dense for my wife’s taste, though I liked it.

In search of another receipe, I guess.

  1. I have a very simple but good recipe for my grandmother’s bread on justbacking.net, if you can find the Beginning Baker – Grandma’s Bread entry… It’s simple, but good, old fashioned white bread.
