La Piazza Al Forno

I have a new favorite pizzaria. La Piazza Al Forno opened in downtown Glendale three weeks ago at a spot on Glendale Avenue facing Murhpy Park.

Wood Fired Brick Oven Pizza.

Yes, there is a wood-fired brick oven in the place. You can watch them make your pizza, stoke the oven with chopped wood, and enjoy a little of downtown Glendale. La Piazza Al Forno is family-owned and family-run. They take great pride in their pizza, and they should.

Even the crust is great. Oh the crust. Thin. So tasty that I could eat it all by itself. Fresh Mozzarella. And they don’t smother it in sauce.

While you are waiting for your pizza, order some stuffed shrimp. I did and they were a marvel of perfection. It’s so easy to overcook shrimp but these were perfect.

  1. I agree, that place is great. My uncle-in-law found them on the internet and bought a gift certificate for my wife and I. We split a pizza, bruschetta, and canollis and the bill was only about $30. As good as Pizzeria Bianco without the 3 hour wait.

  2. I visited La Piazza Al Forno recently we had the pizza which is every bit as good as Pizzeria Bianco. They also have great Entree’s recently we tried a special that was out of this world and only $10.00, you can’t beat it. I highly recommend.

  3. After some digging into Italian food near Cricket Pavilion, I came upon these comments which prompted us to stop by and give Dennis and family a try. WHAT A FIND! I have not been to downtown Glendale in at least 15 years, so was surprised by the cleanliness and old fashioned downtown feel of the place. Then stepping out of our car, the smell of garlic and wood fire, and my wife and I knew we were onto something. We had the special pie of the day, every bit as good as a Wise Guy at Mike B’s. (By the way we have followed Bianco’s since he was at the old Chris Town mall location.) The wine selection was adequate, and a very good value. Also on the special was Tiramisu. It was divine with a nice chocolate start, an excellent texture (not too soggy) with a creamy mascarpone finish. Total bill came to $51.00! Anyone, anywhere in the valley, should get in their car, drive to La Piazza, and tell Dennis and Justin you are home!
