San Francisco Weekend

cartwrightThis weekend my wife and I are in San Francisco for some much-needed R&R. What a place for a foodie! This is not my first trip to San Francisco, but it is the first since I began this adventure called ‘learning to cook’. Of course, that means that I look at dining out from a whole new perspective.

We are stayinng at the Cartright Hote near Union Square. It is a small ’boutique hotel’. The rooms are small, (not European-small, but small by today’s standards). but decorated very nicely. It is also nice and quiet. Wine tasting and jazz Friday and Saturday nights. The staff is the warmest, frendliest, and most helpful I have encountered in a long time. Did I mention free Wi-Fi in the room?

The breakfast buffet is equipped with a waffle maker and pre-measured cups of batter. Pour the batter into the waffle maker, close the lide, and wait for the timer to beep. Presto! a fresh, warm waffle for breakfast! The buffet also includes the usual assortment of cereals, fruits, yogurts, etc.

I have also discovered that just soouth of Chinatown is an area of great little French area fulll of French restaurants and bistros. We shall be sampling one or two!
