Tonight will be week 6 of my 24-week sting at Classic Cooking Academy in Scottsdale,…
Why I Chose Classic Cooking Academy
A few days ago in this post I announced that I'm going to cooking school:
I've been cooking for about 10 years. I really want to push my abilities to the next level. I have no intentions of becoming a professional chef, I just want to increase my skills.
There are culinary schools here locally that are designed for aspiring professional chefs:
- Le Cordon Bleu Scottsdale (formerly Sccottsdale Culinary Institute)
- Arizona Culinary Institute
- Art Institute of Phoenix
These are not suitable for somebody who intends to keep their day job. Several people offer cooking classes that range from 2 hours to a day, focusing on a single topic (Making Pizza, for example):
- Le Cordon Bleu Scottsdale
- Sweet Basic
- Sur La Table
I've attended several of these and enjoy them. I was looking however for something between these one-shot classes and a full-blown culinary academy, and be able to attend evenings or weekends.
A few months ago I was googling and discovered Classic Cooking Academy's Practical course: 1 nite a week for 24 weeks. I read the reviews on Yelp and also found several bloggers who attended and then blogged about it. Every review was overwhelmingly possible.
In three weeks it begins.
