Bistro Bernard

From the outside, it does not look like a French Bistro. But it is. Not just any French Bistro, this is Bistro Bernard, Chef Bernard Chirent's new home.

My Sweet Lady Wife and I have been waiting for this day for months – The day that Chef Bernard's new restaurant was open. And it was worth it!

News travels quickly. I read it on Heather's blog a few days ago. Quick as a bunny, we went there. Good thing too: Open less than a week and he already had 40 reservations that night.

Let me say this: When word gets out you won't be able to get in the door without a reservation.

My Sweet Lady Wife's pork medallions with Pomme Anna was absolute perfection. My scallops with saffron rice was exquisite. I know, I'm over the top with the adjectives but last night's meal there may well rank as the best I have ever eaten.

Dessert was orgasmic: puff pastry filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with bittersweet chocolate sauce.

If you have guests you want to impress and want to take them somewhere on the west side, take them to Bistro Bernard.

UPDATE: Bernard Chirent is no longer associated with this restaurant.  I'm told the name will be changing soon.

  1. Hey Dave – glad you made it Bistro Bernard – I knew you would love it. I’m sure Bernard was happy to see you, too. I think once the word gets out, he’s going to do great!

  2. We just moved here from Ohio and were disappointed by the dearth of good restaurants in the Goodyear/Litchfield area. Happily, we stumbled across Bistro Bernard. What a find. I had lamb and my husband hand the scallops. The dinner salads were excellent. The desserts are sublime. The portion sizes were perfect and the service was superb. I am tremendously difficult to please when it comes to restaurants. I give this one 5 stars. I am returning tomorrow for my birthday as I consider their meals a true present.
